The Doggy Bag Devotional – Investing vs. Gambling

Front Cover FBBelow is a DAY 4 excerpt from Week 42 – Investing vs. Gambling (that particular week’s subject of study). The associated scripture is based out of Ephesians 3.

The DAY 4 perspective for each week’s topic is to engage the lesson from the ‘angles’ of using different bible translations and other scriptures in the bible that address that week’s topic.

Looking at a subject from both of these viewpoints is important because our brains are ‘wired’ differently. A particular word, phrase, story or scripture may connect with one person, but not another. So, multiple viewpoints give us, the readers, a much greater opportunity to really get a grasp on the subject matter.

Be blessed as you dig a little deeper into God’s Word.

 DAY 4                                       BROADER PERSPECTIVES

READ THROUGH THESE OTHER TRANSLATIONS OF THE KEY VERSE, AS WELL AS OTHER SCRIPTURES ON THE SAME SUBJECT, AND NOTE ANY THOUGHTS, IDEAS, OR DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES THAT COME TO MIND.

PRAY: “GOD, OPEN THE EYES OF MY HEART TO THE WONDERS OF YOUR WORD.”

Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes. – Ephesians 3:20 (LB)

OTHER TRANSLATIONS OF EPHESIANS 3:20:

‘Glory belongs to God, whose power is at work in us. By this power he can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine(GW)

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.’ (MSG)

With God’s power working in us, God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine(NCV)

OTHER SCRIPTURES ON THE SAME SUBJECT:

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.’ – 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NLT)

Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.’ – Matthew 6:33 (GNT)

Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. – Psalms 127:1-2 (NLT)
