Pit Stop

pit stopThere certainly can be seasons in life where progress in seeing a dream become a reality, fulfilling a ‘calling’ or the growth and development of a talent can seem to just come to a halt – frustrating indeed. Sometimes however, these delays can not only be helpful, but very intentional. Think of yourself as a race car. The Indy 500 is many laps of grueling, petal to the metal, 200+ mph of bump and go craziness. Although the cars are built to endure the race, they still need routine ‘pit stops’ for refueling, a fresh set of tires, etc. We are similar. Even the most durable, warrior-like people need these routine ‘pit stops’. Without them, it would be very difficult to make it thru the next ‘leg’ of the race or journey without running out of ‘gas’ or ‘blowing a tire’.

If it feels as though you are in a lull right now; like someone pushed the ‘pause’ button on the pursuit of your dreams and goals, maybe the Master Crew Chief has waved you in for a ‘maintenance and refueling’ stop so that you can be properly prepared to speed down the track of life again. He knows what we need to keep us ready and equipped to finish the race on top. It’s in these down times, we must trust God that He knows what He’s doing, has a plan and understands exactly what we need for the journey that lies ahead.

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.’ – Matthew 11:28-29 (MSG)
