Perspective: Roots

RootsSometimes life can leave us feeling bare like a tree that’s been heavily pruned. Maybe circumstances have left us feeling like a ‘stump’; cut down to the ground level with what would seem like little to no life left. All the ‘good stuff’ has been taken away and what remains is awkwardness, guilt, shame, regret and a bad case of the ‘if only’s’.

But like a tree, though it would appear that we’ve had our ‘life’ taken from us, if what is left is nurtured in the right environment with the right food and right care… we will produce ‘fruit’ again. Our ‘limbs’ will grow back, our ‘leaves’ will again be green and we will produce the life that we were designed for.

‘And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.’ – Ephesians 3:17
