Perspective: The Boat

I saw a sign recently that simply read ‘Life doesn’t come with a remote, so get up and change it yourself!’ Made me think how sometimes we can struggle with a healthy ‘partnership’ between trusting God and action/work. It’s like getting into a boat to take us down a river. We trust that the boat will be the secure ‘vessel’ to carry us to our destination. But, unless there is water (action/work) in the river bed, sure, we’d be in the boat, but the boat would just sit stuck in the mud with nothing to move it along. It takes both – trusting in God that He knows what He’s doing and the willingness to move – to ‘get up off the couch and change the channel’ for us to see our dreams, goals and desired destination reached.

‘For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.’ – James 2:26
