Leverage – Part 2: Maximizing Profits

‘Leverage’ – Part 2: sometimes we have to let go of the things we want in order to make room for the things we need.  I remember recently my wife and I having to go through our personal budget and make some adjustments because of an upcoming expected lay-off.  We strongly believe in striving to live within our means, so some changes were necessary. It was difficult to have to significantly ‘reduce’ the amount of available funds in certain areas to make sure that we had enough for the essentials… those non-negotiables.  But, although our ‘investment capital’ was shrinking, we knew that we still had leverage power. In order to still be able to maximize our ‘profits’, we needed to strategically and wisely ‘invest’ what we did have in a God honoring way. As challenging as it was though, we believe God honored and continues to honor, provide and bless when we make the necessary right choices, especially when they are tough.

We must remember that God doesn’t need much to work with. Remember the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000? What about His creating a large mighty oak tree from a small nut-size seed? All He really needs is for us to ‘leverage’ what He’s given us – large or small, invest wisely and strategically into His Kingdom and for His purposes and then just trust Him to make it grow.

‘Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.’ Ps. 34:10
