A couple of years ago, I entered a 12 week physical fitness competition.  About 2 weeks in, I pinched a nerve in my upper back and had to stop all upper body exercises for another 3 weeks.  I was greatly discouraged, but made a commitment to myself that I would continue  the competition to the best of my ability.  I did finish the 12 week competition strong.  I didn’t win, but I learned a lot in the process – working through pain (physical, mental and emotional), not giving up in spite of what seemed like the end of a dream and the love of people who come around to offer encouragement and support when I needed it the most.  That’s what this video is all about.  Here’s a few key points –

1.  When pain strikes and you fall, don’t stay down.  You do have the strength to push beyond the pain – rise again and continue .  The race is only over at the point when you quit.

2.  God doesn’t ask us to be successful and to win at everything, but rather, He asks us to just be faithful.  And when we stumble, He is there, pushing through to get to us, to wrap His loving arms around us and help us when we need it the most.

3. Not giving up despite our pain and finishing our ‘race’ strong, not only impacts our own spirit, but the spirit of many many people around us.  We can be an incredible inspiration to others, helping them to see that it is possible to ‘win’ even though we fall.

4.  I could be that person pushing through the ‘crowd’ to reach out to someone who is in need of love, support and encouragement during a challenging time in their life.

There is not a person on this planet who goes through life without difficulties and challenges. Life is way too short to give up.  Do you have a dream  that seems so far away and unachievable because you’ve been met with roadblocks, you’ve stumbled, been wounded and discouraged? I am here to ask you to stop focusing on the negative and take another look at your dream.  It isn’t lost just because things aren’t going the way you planned.  Get back up on your feet, commit your dream to God and ask Him to help you.  And allow people around you to help you.  That’s why God put people into your life – to provide encouragement, love and support. And remember – The ‘race’ isn’t over until you quit.

In this world, you will have trouble, but take heart, for I have overcome the world.

John 16:33
